Pu-erh Tea- Healthy Weight Loss Tea!

Pu-erh Tea originates from the town of Pu-erh, Yunnan province of south west China and can be dated back as far as the Tang Dynasty (617-907).

Pu-erh tea took the name of its originating town as it became the hub of tea trading. The tea was packaged to allow for safe for transport and instead of deteriorating with age, it improved and compressed them in to cakes- this is why you so often see Pu-erh tea in forms of ‘cake’.

However, this is not a tea for the impatient, Pu-erh tea can take at least 30 years to come to maturity. Due to the high demand and the slow process of developing Pu-erh tea, the Chinese tea industry started to create ‘cooked’ Pu-erh tea referred to as Shou Pu-erh. Processed artificially, this Pu-erh tea is ready within a matter of days opposed to waiting for years. Shou Pu-erh is bold and earthy with mushroom like notes. It is more of an everyday tea and is more reasonably priced.
